Just realized that a good chunk of them are on Hulu, and the one's that aren't I can rent fairly easily. Bond is probably the biggest film series that I have 0 exposure too, so as someone who loves film I figure I should probably give them a go.

No idea how the chronology of the series works, should I just start with the first one (Dr. No I think?) or are some of them prequels, or like, what? I know literally nothing about this series.

I'd like to eventually watch all of them, if that factors into recommendations at all.

I'm shocked you as a movie guy has never seen a single one. I'm never good at these kinds of things about where to start and whatnot, i'd say Dr. No but i'm sure there will be more logical suggestions. I've seen each at least twice but still consider myself a casual fan.

Yeah, it's definitely one of the biggest holes in the films I've watched. Never have been super big into spy media, but it's such a big part of film history that I feel like I need to watch them.

Always order of release. Why do people keep asking this question

Don't waste your time on the whole series. It becomes a redundant timesink. Too much of it feels like self-parody. The actor playing Bond is crucial and only two really do it for me. The ones that are legitimately great films, in order of greatness:

1. Casino Royale
2. From Russia with Love
3. Skyfall
4. Goldfinger

The ones that are legitimately very good and worth watching:

5. Goldeneye
6. Dr. No

I'd be only happy to snobbishly elaborate on these individual movies if you'd like. As for viewing order, chronological release is best.

Casino Royale
Goldeneye

Then from there try either the other Pierce Brosnen ones in order and the other Daniel Craig ones if you liked him, Skyfall being his next good one, the others being just popcorn action movies.

The rest are just a meme and will feel like a dated drag tbh. They really arent good movies on their own right, let alone good action movies to warrant watching them all

See them in order.
The old movies barely got any continuity between the different Bond actors.
...or at least any that I remember...
They did a soft reset with Daniel Craig as Bond so that is an alternative if you just want to see a more modern take of Bond.

See them in release date order. There is a thin story line stretched out over the first few movies, and some minor characters show up multiple times.

This. If he really doesn't want to watch them all, most of the Moore movies can be skipped I suppose. But the first five Connery movies are important. Watch at least The Spy Who Loved Me from Moore. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a must. Both Dalton movies are a must. And the best Brosnan and Craig movies have been recommended. But at that point may as well watch them all if you end up liking them.
