It's by far the longest Star Wars movie, and almost 20 minutes longer than TFA.

But that IS what people are flacking it for. Why do you think they keep criticizing making Finn useless with a useless subplot with that dumpy asian woman they insisted on using? Because it just bogs down the movie and stretched that run time.

Then again, plots and subplots of said movie are pointless

Well, the fact that the entire second act is pointless goes hand in hand with the movie being a bloated mess.

Is the directing really the problem though, I think it's the writing, since I've actually liked the director's 2 other movies, Brick in particular being amazing (and Looper okay) so I don't understand why the final jedi was so lame

It's sad really. I was super hyped for the movie (that included the runtime) just because I thought it was going to be better than what it really was. I thought, hey, longest Star Wars movie ever, this can't be awful at all. After seeing it, I most likely will never watch it again partly because of the runtime and how bad it was.

Explain to me again why people are still excited for Star Wars movies? I never got into the movies until one day I saw a deal for 6 movies in Blu-ray for like $15 so I bought it. The original 3 movies were great but the newer ones were a boring snooze fest. How do people still get excited when they havent put out a good movie in forever.

The hatred The Last Jedi gets from some people totally baffles me. It's such a great film and as a Star Wars fan it made me very happy. I don't think I've heard or read any criticism of it that comes off as legitimate and isn't coming from some questionable political point of view.
