I don't get why there are so many aliens fleeing to earth. why is Earth this special place? you would think earth, a backwater primitive planet would not be the universe's allegory for "america". but it is

I like the show but I always thought it was kinda dumb how earth is the destination for so many downtrodden aliens, and they never explain why.

There's been multiple explanations on why earth is the center of the universe over the years. At least on the comic side of things, not sure on the Arrowverse side.

I think the closest is that the Dominators were really pissed off because Earth was full of meta-humans and Barry Flashpoint'd time.

But that's an entirely different universe from Supergirl. I suppose you could argue that Superman being active for at least a decade on Earth means that it could be seen as under his protection which might attract alien refugees.

Also, I will say, Supergirl has so far handled this plotline waaaaaay better than I thought they would. The backstory episode for Agent Liberty almost made his views understandable.
