Story/character wise?
Veronica > Sylvando > Hendrik > Jade > Serena > Erik > Rab > lol Silent Protagonist

Battle wise?
Jade > Veronica > Hero > Hendrik > Erik > Sylvando > Serena > Rab

Actually one thing I was really impressed by in DQXI is that the party is basically shuffling in and out of the spotlight in their OP-ness throughout the entire game. Like Serena is great when you get her and then Rab totally outclasses her when he shows up, but then Serena gets some stuff that lets her totally outclass him. Erik is great, then falls off big time when Jade joins, then ends up being amazing again later - it just keeps going and every character besides the Hero is constantly doing a shuffle like this.

Of course it has to end somewhere so by the time you get to endgame there's an obvious "best" party, (Hero/Erik/Veronica/Serena) but it's really neat how everyone has their moments in the sun up until then.

I wish Sylvando wasn't almost entirely useless at the end of the game personally

Hustle Dance can't keep up with the higher HP pools and he can't really do much damage. Basically just leaves his Whipping Boy ability and being an Oomphle caster.

Oh and I guess he can do that lockdown combo with Erik but eeeeeh

I'm kind of surprised to see Jade winning the poll. >_>

Like yeah she's hot and has a great introduction but she does literally nothing for the rest of the game after that. She has by far the fewest speaking lines of the whole party, too!

Yeah, I was disappointed that she doesn't get any sort of plot when you re-recruit her in the second half. Every other character does. Instead, she became a sex slave vampire bunny and you rescue her and that's that. Yay for writing female characters in games I guess?

I was pretty disappointed in Jade considering how much Japan hyped her up. I mean, I still like her, but I kind of expected more.

If they ever remake DQ11 the two things I want are more Jade dialogue and more Gemma dialogue. Both could really, really use it.

Really they should just make Gemma come with you in Part 2, even if she isn't a battle party member. She just really needs the characterization. It's so weird she's the only character you can marry but she's so flat as a character, you'd think they'd have learned from the DQ8 remake!

Sylvando was the most fun story-wise, and I used him in my travelling (non-boss) party.

I wanted to like Jade, and she wound up being useful in combat, but how am I supposed to take someone seriously as a fighter when the moment you beat her up roughly a third of her abilities have something to do with sex appeal? I can have her using Multifeet one round and hugging her boobs with a puff puff the next. It led to some cognitive dissonance, for sure.

Veronica and Serena went in my boss fighting party, as did "other", and Rab only came out on rare occasions when I needed a specific ability.
