Anyone done this before? Like I'll buy a property (2 room), rent out one of the rooms and charge the renter the monthly mortgage payment so I'm essentially living there for free.

Speaking from total ignorance, I guess if you could find someone willing to pay that as rent. But that would be an incredibly scummy thing to do and I'd hope you cannot accomplish it.

I can't imagine too many people would be willing to take such a deal, given they could be paying their own mortgage in such a case. Unless they don't know.

You've also got older mortgages where they're paying about half of what they'd be paying to buy the house new anyway. That said, I don't envision many situations where someone would be willing to pay market value of a house as rent for half a house. --- I are Serious Cat This is serious thread ...
