I have both a Doberman and a Yorkee dog for several years (they get along well)

A few days ago, I witnessed an eagle swooping down and hunting a stray cat. Thing is, both dogs of mine saw the attack as well and were crying/yelping

Ever since then, my dogs have both been scared to go outside. When they do, they wimper and have try to do their best to go inside the house. Even in the house, they've been a lot were scared and paranoid, even with the slighest noises.

Anyone know what I can do to ease their fears? Or will they get back to normal eventually?

Challenge the eagle to a steel cage deathmatch for dominance over the neighborhood.

do you take them out on a leash or just let em out? if the latter then i would recommend leashing and staying close so theyre more comfortable.

i have them on a leash when i go out.they usually are fine/cause no problems, but ever since the attack they've been much more scared to even walk outside

Buy a 12-gauge shotgun, and some steel shot.

If it flies, it dies.

There's a hawk that lives in the tree next door. We have two small dogs. So far they have been fine. Though we don't tend to leave them out long, and there are hundreds of smaller animals around. I dunno, I've never seen a dog killed by a bird of prey but I'm sure it happens.

Maybe build a large cage or something to prevent an aerial assault?

I mean to be fair Eagles are pretty much the strongest thing you can encounter as a dog or cat. You dont see it and it just swoops in and gashes your neck or drops you from hundreds of feet in the air.

Id be scared too if i were a sheltered doggo

The doberman doesn't know it's too big for the hawk to be interested.
