I sympathize. Situations like this always remind me of that commercial where the guy's getting rushed into the ER, clearly about to die and all that, and then they swipe his card and everyone's standing around waiting until it clears to treat him.

I feel her. If I'm ever in a wreck and they try to put me in an ambulance or life flight my intestines better be laying on my lap or else I will outright refuse to go. I'll have someone pick me up and take me if I'm not dying. A lot of times, especially with motorcycle accidents, they will try to force you into getting life flighted because of head trauma. I had a friend who had to flee the scene because they were trying to force him into getting life flighted and the fines for fleeing are much cheaper than the life flight bill.

It's absolutely bullshit that you have to pay for a service that you never asked for or even gave consent for. The ONLY time it should cost money is for the people who abuse the system and use ambulances like a taxi service to get to the hospital for non life threatening issues. I work in a hospital and see it happen multiple times a day.

Our system is fucked though. I just was working in the ER a few months ago and overhead a guy arguing with the doctor because he was signing himself out AMA after just having at least one stroke because he said he can't afford to be admitted. It's fucking sad to see that when you have people who abuse shit across the hall who treat the place like s mini vacation with room service.
