If I choose a good enough shipping option it's usually upgraded to release date delivery for me. I think If I chose 2 days when I preorder, when there's finally a committed release date it gets upgraded.

i generally have positive experiences with preordering games on amazon. preordered octopath traveler and got it for 47.99

Anytime I have went with them it was on the date. On the date though means by 8PM. So probably faster through store but there are very very few games I go in on day one.

Lately not as likely. Some do and some don't. More don't these days. Anytime it's happened to me though I complain and they offer me promotional credit toward my next purchase.

I've gotten some late and some on release day. Seems to be random or just dependent on how popular the game is with more people buying the less chance you have of getting it on time. I did get Breath of the Wild for my Wii U a day early for whatever reason which was nice. Sadly had work that day so it didn't matter all that much.
