The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the best movie trilogies ever. No extended universe needed. Why dont they just find a good director to do another trilogy?

Yeah they shouldn't try to do what Marvel in terms of having an overall connected story. But instead do what they did with the DC animated film. Have standalone films that are only connected because they're the same characters in the same universe.

But having to go from MoS to BvS to JL dealing with the continuation of what happened in MoS just didn't work and it was made worse when they kept course correcting.

The animation is so flipping good.
They've been dropping the ball recently, but overall it's fantastic.

I think everything prior to JL: War was top notch. But everything after felt very lacking.

Yep, they're doing that now. But it's also all talk right now so we'll have to see. I remember they released a press statement that they won't try to focus too much on continuity moving forward, but that was sometime last year.

I kind of really agree. DC is great because of Batman and Superman, and maybe Wonder Woman too. Just stick to movies for those three.

I honestly like Batman best in his own world. I want him to take down city gangsters like Penguin and stuff. That's when he's the most entertaining.

Yep. Some movies that were greenlit like Batgirl are effectively abandoned. It feels like they were literally greenlighting everything at some point if Joss Whedon says that he quit because he literally has no idea what movie or plot to have he just "wanted" to make a Batgirl movie.

They're pretty much keeping the references to other movies and/or characters to a bare minimum from what I hear. Something like what they did with Wonder Woman

They should have just stuck to making solo movies while only implying they all lived in the same universe. Would have probably been overall easier for them since they have no idea what they're doing.

Or just adapt the animated movies. Don't know why their animation consistently knocks it out of the park but their live-action keeps striking out.

At this point, Warner just needs to do a Lego DC Universe.

For now they should probably focus on standalone stuff and then do a crossover once they're popular and well received.

I wonder how TDK trilogy would have gone if they used that to lead into the DCEU. If Ledger lived it probably would have been more tempting for them to figure out.

Not really. Lately the writing has been terrible on every CW/DC show, and people are starting to get tired of the Arrowverse.
