They see how successful R6S is now after a mediocre launch and they're using the same model with FH.

Giving the game away for free and focusing on dlc and game improvements instead of starting on a sequel.

Only downside is the hesitance towards Uplay.

Its the only game that I put the effort in to get a refund for. It was a great concept that became unplayable while they actively denied that the problems existed.

What are they going to do differently?

Isn't this also basically the same model that revitalized the Division (although in that case it was "90% off sales followed by tons of free updates")?

I haven't played it, but I heard the same thing. I'm willing to at least try the game now.

I played for the $100 gold edition, only for the game to be a bug riddled mess at launch plagued by abhorrent connectivity issues due to the lack of dedicated servers....might just be the last Ubi title I ever buy

I was in the same boat but i recently came back to it and its really fun.

They fix the server issues so im not getting constantly kicked from games. The newer maps are set up where people just cant run away so easily in 1v1 situations

Ubisoft's MO is release a broken game, but never give up on it, such that after a year or two the games are actually in a much better place and thriving.

Criticize them for it, but honestly, they support their older games more than most developers. It's more refreshing than having to jump to a new CoD or Battlefield every year.

The nature of their multiple developers making annual CoD's is that it's hard to keep the population on a single title past a year. I'm sure it still has a sizable population, but are they releasing 4 major updates per year that include new specialists and a map with each one?

Ubisoft's post-launch support has been great. Like, I enjoyed Steep at launch, it got decent reviews, but it didn't sell well. And they're still adding new features a year and a half in
