I gotta go with XONE and that Backwards Compatibilty. Having a current gen console to be able to play my last gen games is like a dream come true. Fucking Gears of War 2 in 4k resolution is the hottest shit to ever happen.

Judging all as they stand today, it's almost impossible to vote anything else other than PS4.

That said, considering the Switch is only one year old, I'd say it easily had the best first year of any of the consoles.

I haven't used the switch yet, but I'll have to say ps4.

I seem to constantly have issues with the Microsoft consoles in some way.

xbox has no james but good hardware, a lot of very pro-consumer features that consoles have needed desperately for decades (BC, cloud saves, cross play, etc)

ps4 i think is overrated, outside of a small handful of exclusives, it's a pretty mediocre system. not really much of a reason to own a ps4 over a gaming PC unless you really want to play God of War or something

switch hits the sweet spot imo. has the games and it looks like more are on the way, and the hardware is unique and interesting enough that it's worth a buy beyond just getting the next incremental gaming system.

nothing worse than having all your old consoles that you have unplugged & in storage because your new stuff is hooked up, but you dont want to throw out the old systems.

it is a problem imo, it basically leads to video game hoarding. i have part of my closet at home full of old consoles that i dont want to get rid of. it's a pain and it's crazy that nobody really addressed this until now with the xbox one.

BC is common sense imo, it allows old games to have value years later. PC gamers have been used to this for decades, Nintendo has been pretty good with this overall, etc

if you're a collector that's cool, that's your hobby or w/e

but for the rest of us, it's just a lot of baggage. you have a ton of old consoles, old games, associated cables, it all takes up space, and none of it plays well together. and if your playstation 2 stops working, you either get on ebay and replace it or chuck your game collection in the trash.

in contrast, say i'm a PC gamer. I can buy a gaming laptop and it can contain the ability to play every single video game I've purchased in the last 10 years, I can access almost all of them digitally through Steam/Origin/Bnet/etc, I can install games on the computer as long as it's not compatible with modern operating systems or something.

it's just common sense imo to consolidate. tons of other industries have done this, look at when mp3s became big, streaming movies, etc. gaming is like a decade behind tech in a lot of ways
