It's uncomfortable. Can't they let kids just be kids instead of sexualised "lolis" Clementine in the walking dead was not sexualised and Relm was just a kid in FF6. Why are jrpgs writers sexualising kids?

Yeah. Like, she cursed enough that a sailor might blush.

Besides her saying "I'm relm and this is Strago" and maybe "a doggy" to interceptor, the rest of her lines were basically accentuated by strings of swear words.

For the most part Relm is just an unusually mature little girl. In the Wolsey translation of FF6, she does play up the lolita a bit during the third Ultros battle when she's tricking him into letting her paint him. I don't know if this is an example of sexualization here akin to the presentation of these kinds of characters in other jRPGs, or not. But it did get a bit of side-eye back in the nineties. I also don't know if that's still present in the new translation (can't remember, it's probably on YT though), or if it was present in the original japanese script.

no not really because the japanese language doesnt really have many swear words
they have rude ways of speaking which i believe is how relm talks but thats not the same as swearing.

anyway JRPGs have started to cram fanservice into their games like crazy and its hurt the genre a lot

No it is not. That is the minimum a prefecture is allowed to set it to and most do not set it that low. There are also extremely strict statutory rape laws. You can't really be sure it's legal unless everyone involved is over 20 where as in America it's 18.

Pretty sure it was always a thing in Japan, but they suddenly realized that America was full of disgusting perverts too so they made the extra push.

It's a damn shame, because there are lots of games out there I would probably try if it weren't for that shit.

This is CE. You can tell them this over and over and all they care about is "uwu age of consent is 14 in my state, I'll tell a 12 year old girl I'll wait for her to be legal"

what is actually kind of funny is that even places who has an age of consent of 14 or 16 prohibit owning naked pictures of them. It's illegal and should stay illegal.

There's really only 1 or 2 companies that are guilty of that, and I hate that they're pretty much seen as jRPG makers. They make anime-styled ecchi jRPGs that are light on substance, but heavy on fanservice. I'll never play a Compile Heart or Idea Factory game.

i always just characterized her as rowdy and strangely articulate for a younger child
