i hear this a lot and it's like the system is set up to punish investors if wages rise. seems like interest rate hikes accompany every organic wage increase made in the market. i'm not even talking about actual laws mandating wage raises.

i'm not exactly savvy on this so hence the question... can anyone explain why the system is set up to basically discourage wage growth? why is it always a bad thing for investors?

Profit margin...

If you raise minimum wage of everyone to say $16.00/hour

It cuts into the profit margin of various companies. Companies don't like a shrinking profit margin so they find other means to regain said profit margin (usually using inflation of prices to do so)

The idea (which I disagree with) is that raising workers' salaries is a waste of surplus, since increasing an existing worker's salary by $1/hr doesn't generate $1/hr more for your company.
