Is this a Terraria topic?

You really shouldnt have any issues if youre up to date on your armor and such

His stupid head spinning stun lock hits me way too many times. I have the Shield of Cthulu which gives me a dash and I swear way too often I dash into one of his hands and it just knocks me straight into his spinning head attack! I got stun locked by it four times this last fight! I escaped 3 of them but the fourth one killed me. Nothing else in the main portion of this game has given me as much trouble as stupid Skeletron. I mean, yeah, I fought the Queen Bee 6 times and died no more than 3 of those fights, but that's nothing compared to the 6 deaths to Skeletron with no wins. AND I FORGOT TO GET OUT AND THROW MY BEE NADES!!!!! Which I just remembered I had after I died....

So basically, stupid mistakes give me problems with Skeletron. Playing it on Expert Mode doesn't make it easier...

I did pretty well this last time, I killed the hands quite quick. But I was still unprepared for the solo head portion. I should play it sometime when it's not close to bed time so I'm more focused. That's probably another problem that makes me die more than I should.

Oh, you're playing expert. I mean, by and large you fight it the same as normal, there is just less margin for error.

What class, accessories and arena are you running?

Yeah, a big part of fighting in Terraria is prepping the area youre fighting in.

So make a few platforms you can easily go up and down, get some campfires and heart lamps, and go nuts on buff potions.

Uh, I pretty much use water bolt, bee gun, and the mini shark. I'm using the Hellstone armor set and I don't know what acc I have. They all have good modifiers but not all defense modifiers.

Yeah, I did all that.

I think the arena for skeletron needs to be long and with just one level of platforms. I was using a big box with two levels of platforms but I think it'd be better just making it longer to have a "runway" of sorts. In fact, I think that's what I did when I killed him before.

I have two campfires, I think two heart lanterns, pools of honey, stars in bottles, and my buffs are, iron skin, swiftness, regen, thorns, mana power, and mana regen.

A problem I have is I'm not consistent with my grapples to get out of the stun lock right away. He usually gets in 2-3 hits before I can escape.

Geez, and I thought you were a vet.

You're mixing a mage with ranger weapons (nothing wrong with a secondary) but a warrior armour set (I'm guessing for the defense)

Yes, runway is the way to go for bosses that generally keep a relative position to you. Get any running shoes for mobility. With more mobility you can have less defence so swap out for the meteor armour for increased magic damage.

The water bolt is a good pick, if you make best use of it. Build a ceiling as well, equal distance along the runway and above skeles head, the water bolts bounce so aim pretty much straight up while running away and watch him run into a constant wall of pain.

All-star is playing expert mode, which yes, is generally harder than standard.

Enemies scale with how many bosses you have defeated and bosses are kind of reworked and/or gain an extra phase or moves.

Skeletron, as we are talking about him already, gains a massive defence boost on his head until you destroy his arms. On top of that, his arms cause you to slow down and his head causes you to bleed and has an extra ranged attack. I think his stats are higher in general as well.

The benefit of playing expert is that money drops scale with bosses killed as well, and each boss 100% drops an item unique to their expert version. The best of these being wall of flesh that allows your character to permanently equip one extra accessory as long as you are in an expert world.

Well, to be fair to me, I haven't played this in like I'd say at least a year.

Yeah, I'm using the set for defense. I didn't want to use the Meteor Set and cheese the Meteor Gun. I didn't know it gave you more magic damage though.

Alright, went in game and looked at my acc.

Worm Scarf
-- 4% damage
Shield of Cthulu
-- 2% damage
Blue Horseshoe Balloon
-- 3% damage
Hive Pack
-- 3$ movement speed
Lightning Boots
-- 2% damage

I think I can swap something, probably the balloon out with my shackle that gives +3 defense on top of it's 1 defense just for using it.

I'm just playing with you about that.

I can't remember what worm scarf or hive pack are, and isn't horseshoe balloon a tinkerers item? How do you have that pre Skeletron or does it spawn now?

Yes meteor set is a mage set and full set increases magic damage, probably why meteor gun is considered a cheese to you because I believe it is classed as a spell and uses mana, although this is the first I've heard of it being cheesy. Water bolt is very cheesy, however, when used as I described previously (as that method will wreck wall of flesh pretty quick as well)

I'm not seeing anything wrong with your accessories beyond not knowing what some of them do, great prefixes for where you are. Personally, if you did tinker a ballon, i would have saved it for a possible bundle of balloons but you can get wings much earlier now so not necessary.

What can I say, I primarily push offence, things dying faster hit less, and second on mobility, as the best defence is not getting hit.

I can only suffice that the problem is your arena then. Defo runway, alternatively, gravity potion and just have an epic air battle, circling him while putting that minishark to good use. I suppose you could make better use of the molten armour by grabbing a starfury, I believe the stars count as melee and that's something like 15% increased melee damage from the set? Oh, or the best yoyo you can get, the really decent ones don't drop until after skele unfortunately but it keeps you at a decent range while still benefiting from the increased defence and offence bonus melee sets provide, such as your molten set.

The Worm Scarf is an Expert Mode only drop from the Eater of Worlds. I reduces damage.

The HIve Pack makes your bees stronger. Which I should swap out if I'm not using an armor set that gives magic damage.

And yeah, the balloon is a tinkerer item. I don't remember where I got the horseshoe.

The Meteor Set makes it so the Meteor Gun consumes no mana so you can just shoot it freely with infinite ammo. That's why it's cheesy and it's what I used to beat him last time XD

Yeah, but to be completely honest, I gave up and just took my OP character and killed him and was completely satisfied with it. I haven't gone in the dungeon yet and I did have an Enchanted Boomerang which I remembered can be upgraded to a Fiery Boomerang, or whatever it's called. That would have helped a ton! I also have a Rally which I haven't used cause I don't like yo-yos.

Maybe I'll try to legit fight him one more time before going into the dungeon.

Tinkerer appears after you beat the Goblin Army. You never needed access to the dungeon, it's just the easiest place to find him once he can spawn.

To beat Skeletron I used a minecart rail that I built across my entire world (high enough to clear any hills or giant trees but not high enough for harpies) if you're traveling at the right speed most of his attacks miss. Makes the Moon Lord easier too.

Ah yeah, I got lucky cause I found I think 3 of them with a few gravity potions that I found. I got that and a Starfury.

I could have done this with my "express rails" but I build them too high to not unsummon skeletron and it'll take waaaay too long to fix it to try that.

I did build a small rail in my arena and tried to just have it bounce me from one end to the other but I was going to fast and the rail was too long so he desummoned...

It's a legitimate strategy, as well as creating as many worlds as needed to get that rare item to spawn.

I was thinking you had to defeat all 3 base bosses before goblins could invade, never mind.

I never bothered with rails outside of the ones that now spawn on world creation. Worth it at all?

If you have to beat 3 bosses then I don't think it has to be the 3 base bosses. I think any 3 works. But then again, they showed up for me before I beat the third boss.

Especially after finding the Mechanic. You just need to make sure you get yourself a ton of Iron so that you can make enough tracks for whatever you want to use it for. I usually make a track that goes almost to the end of each side of the world. That way, whichever side you need to get to you can get there very quickly.

I double checked, you have to break at least one orb and have over 200 health, or just the 200 health if you use a banner.

Ah, that's probably why I never put much time into it. All my iron used to go into ironskin potions and if I'm going to be doing long distance travel, it would seem faster and cheaper to just set up teleporters.

I don't like messing with wires XD And you can't craft wires so crafting mine tracks is cheaper cause you don't spend money on them!

And yeah, I know wire is pretty cheap. But I have like over 400 iron ore so having enough of that isn't really an issue.

Oh! and I found an Alchemy Lab so I'll be able to make more potions while conserving items!

Whenever I play this again, I'll be building my probably too long Wall of Flesh runway. I usually don't have any trouble with WoF. I should probably try to make myself some necro armor. I don't really want to use the Space Gun unless I really can't beat it for some reason. I think the only time I've ever died to WoF is because I made the runway too short.

All the enemies in the underworld are annoying and the spawn rate it too high XD I did find a Demon Scythe the last time I was down there though.
