I'm on episode 4 and:

- Rushed scenes
- Poor writing
- Lame acting
- "Phoning it in" written all over the place
- 80% of the characters are just background noise now
- Lack of good plot lines, rushing ahead with the main story

It got better. Things picked up, action happened, the plotlines finally clashed/ran together.

They are writing without the help of the books, just general plot points GRRM supposedly gave them. They realized they need to hit whatever plot points he gave them AND finish the damn thing in 2 shortened seasons.

7 was like what, 8 episodes? 8 will be 6, albeit each will be longer.

The budget is the reason. Actors get paid per episode.

Episode 4 was the first episode of the series that really started to kill my fandom in GoT. It only gets worse from there though sadly.

Fact that they plan on making five spinoff series from GoT is probably going to wind up being a major profit killer for HBO. D&D have been exposed as normal Hollywood hacks that can't create material on their own, and its going to be painful to watch what happens to a series that started off so unique and amazing.

The show is a visual spectacle now, most everything else has taken a hit. That battle in S7E4 was awesome but Bronn probably would have died if we were playing by previous season rules. They seem scared to kill anyone now.

Yeah, characters now have plot armor. Which, for a series that prided itself and established early on that any character can die at any time is an unforgivable sin IMO. Combined with the fact that the cast had their collective IQ drop by half since leaving the original source material, it just kills any tension and you know that their stupidity won't wind up getting them killed off like it should at times.

It never really was that any character could die anytime. GRRM just used masterful writing and misdirection to make us think Ned was the main character when he never really was.

Well, we also had moments like the Red Wedding as well. It felt like no one was 100% safe or protected by the script.

Yep - and I think the Benjen scene is the absolute worst in the show
