I'm jotting down notes on the subject for a project. How was it? Pros, cons, experiences?

Just a few off the top of my head. Not that I have a ton of experience in these things so grain of salt. (Just an ex who ultimately cheated six months in.)

IIRC @SerPounceALot was in a long distance relationship before getting married. She might be able to offer better info than a naive person like me.

Pros:

- Easier to interact if you're bad at social stuff. (Like it's easier to be private or interact through a screen.) This is probably the main appeal to me; it's extremely difficult for me to talk to people IRL unless I'm really close to them so I much prefer screens as a medium, if just until I am that open.

Cons:

- Harder to actually do stuff together. You'll definitely have to put in some effort as to how to spend time together, it's not as easy as "go out and eat." Not that it's impossible especially with video chatting being a thing. Just expect to get creative, online gaming probably won't be enough. ;P

- Communication is even more important IMO; whether that's a con is of course debatable. There's no longer these subtle social cues that can tell you or your partner the other is upset; you need to talk about things. Or respect their space (though learning that is probably itself gleaned through communication).

- Reduced physical intimacy but that's obvious. Of course physical intimacy *is* important for almost any relationship, and it probably should be done occasionally once y'all are ready. (Like go to a hotel or something.) Some couples opt into open relationships for this reason (you can bang other people to get rid of your urges, but you're still with me I guess is the main philosophy used?) but that opens a whole can of worms IMO and isn't a good idea.
