Of course. It's the only way to make sure criminals don't keep coming back and hurting more people. I'd only do that to violent criminals that I know have killed people in the past though

It doesn't really matter. Most villains above the street thug level in comics books are repeat offenders that have killed multiple people and continue to do so. They should generally be killed on sight.
