Animal foundation here has 17 pages worth of dogs. All pitbulls, any animal that is not a pitbull is taking almost instantly. Plus, they're always sick or something weird

if you're still wanting to adopt but don't want a pitbull try seeing if any breed specific rescue organizations are in your area.

Some non pitbull types get pulled so fast because those rescue workers take them from over crowded shelters into their own rescues or the shelter just automatically makes arrangements for those dogs to be moved.

Unethical breeders looking for a buck you mean.

Ethical breeders conduct health and temperament tests and have at least a 2 year health guarantee.

Nothing ethical about buying them from a breeder when there are so many amazing dogs that need homes already. Also lol at paying 2000 for a dog.

I paid 200 for mine. Had him for 14 years, he was amazing.

Most ethical breeders don't make a profit. They're dedicated to the breed and try to improve it and retain the the right to reclaim the dog if the owner can no longer care for it so that it won't end up in shelters.

Yes there are plenty of dogs that need homes, but ethical breeders are not the problem, backyard breeders breeding dogs with no regard for health and temperament and puppy mills are the problem.

Man, I kinda want a female dog. But with my boy I don't know. I don't have much experience with having two different gender dogs.

What do you guys think? Play it safe get a boy? Our German shepherd isn't even fixed yet. We did a bit of research and it said best to wait for a year for German shepherds because they develop hip problems at a bigger rate with early neutered

Last thing I want is my 10 month old walking around trying to hump a 3 month old husky

Hip dysplasia is mostly genetic. Spaying/Neutering on large dogs should not be done until they're at least 18 months old to give the growth plates time to close. Early spay/neuter can contribute to a number of issues including a higher chance of developing hip dysplasia.

Well considering that breeds like German Shepherds used, to be 50-60 pounds and they were bred to be 80-90 pounds and few breeds have more problems than them.

Not to mention Bulldogs, and Pugs and all the issues they have.

That's what happens when you stop breeding for function and just concentrate on the aesthetic part for dog shows. Old World working German Shepards are closer to 50-60 lbs and don't have the exaggerated over angulated hind quarters. I've seen bulldogs and pugs that were fit and could actually run without passing out after 20 yards, and you could see a waist. People tend to overfeed them to the point where they're shaped like barrels.

well the pet thing is true, cant say so much for children. most pitbulls love children (not to bite or eat).
despite the eager to please personality, pits are not good for first time dog owners.
