Well

The American bison (Bison bison) lives only in North America, while the two main buffalo species reside in Africa and Asia.

But I wonder if the taste is that different.

the thing that surprises me is that cows can breed fertile off spring with bison. they were separated for millions of years, crazy that they can still breed.

Bison is another name for buffalo, shut up SJWs.

Yeah I've had the buffalo burger at Fuddruckers a handful of times. It's a lean meat. Probably difficult to cook it well yourself.

Yes, my dad used to shoot a bison every other year and split the meat with another guy, so my parents would end up with 500 pounds of meat.

I've eaten a lot of fucking buffalo burger.

Bison burgers are good because they're grass fed usually.

But:

"In North America, the names are used interchangeably for the species Bison bison," Ross MacPhee, Curator of the Department of Mammalogy at the American Museum of Natural History, tells mental_floss in an email. But though both bison and buffalo are bovids, or members of the cattle family, there are some definite differences between them.

"Elsewherein non-English-speaking Europe, for examplea bison is the European Bison, Bison bonasus, a species very closely related to B. bison," MacPhee says. "A buffalo is either a Cape Buffalo Syncerus (Africa), or Water Buffalo Bubalus (South Asia), neither of which are closely related to either kind of bison." So if you're yearning for a home where the buffalo roam, you'd better move to another continent.

Never have.

I'm not big on trying new things in the first place, and every year burgers get more expensive, making it a bigger risk.

Trying new things is a great part of life.

I'll do it literally a few times a year. Buffalo/bison burgers will probably get their turn eventually. I must say I was glad I tried alligator last year.
