I'm not getting one next time. Do all black labs get cancer?

Only lab of mine that had health issues badly was one with hip dysplasia. Had to put her down when it got so bad.

It seems to be the way, I once had a black lab I'd grown up with and he died of cancer as well, poor boy was riddled with it :(

Huh, not really. Labradors aren't even in the top 10 breeds that are prone to cancer.

Could it have been environmental?

certain breeds are prone to certain things. don't get a boxer. you have like a 50% chance they will get a disease later in life that makes their back legs paralyzed. the best bet is to get a mutt. pure breeds are literally inbred, and have various problems

Purebreds are far more prone to disease and genetic problems than mutts. Never heard anything about labs and cancer but hip problems can be an issue. Though not as much as for some larger breeds.

Both my moms pugs died from cancer. One went blind first. The lab I had growing up never had an issue health wise. Though she did get arthritis when she was older.

Don't buy pure breed dogs. They're prone to obtain diseases and die of genetic abnormalities.
