in red and blue, you start the game with a snes in your room. this brings up a bunch of questions because in the remake fire red and leaf green, it's a nes. that always made me wonder if it was originally a nes in red and blue in japan. and they changed it to a snes for the english release. but if so...why a snes? if I remember right, pokemon came out in japan in 1996, wasn't that the same year the n64 came out? it should have been an n64 in both regions. especially in the english version, which came out in 1998. snes was ancient history by then. It's always confused me about why they went with nes/snes instead of n64

Maybe it'd be too much effort to change a small easter egg that still serves the same purpose regardless of if it's NES/SNES or N64.

Because Red was raised by a poor single mother who couldnt afford a Nintendo 64.

I remember when I was a kid first playing Red and I had no idea what a SNES even was.

now I feel ancient. my first console was an atari 2600. And I remember when the NES came out and blew my mind.
