It's bullshit, no matter how you try to spin it. It makes no sense that they sprung out of nowhere, with no indication to Jon that they were going to join the fight. The logistics of them showing up makes no sense. The motivation of them fighting the Boltons makes no sense. It also cheapens the victory for Jon's army and makes it feel like an undeserved victory.
