Is Kmart still actually hanging on?

Or did they finally go completely out of business?

It was pretty crappy. Like a worse version of Walmart/Target.

I was just in one so I guess they're kind of hanging on.

Kmart is amazing because it's been years since I've been in a chain that has so clearly given up. Every one I go in to is dirty, crap is just shoved on whatever shelf is nearest, any attempt at organization has long been abandoned, and the store is barely staffed. They know they're on the slow burn to shutting down and just don't give a shit.

That last time I was in a kmart was about 7 years ago... But even then they were EXACTLY as you just described...

Honestly, I felt like I could steal anything I wanted and they wouldn't have cared....

There was a K-Mart here in town until it closed last year. I went there a few times and never really saw what was supposed to be wrong with it. It was clean, the shelves were stocked, and it had more or less what you'd expect to find at a smaller size Wal-Mart.

His description of K-Mart is pretty accurate to what I saw lol. Everything was unorganized, all the stuff was half assed on the shelves, there are big empty gaps on the shelves where more stuff should be. Not to mention it was dirty, which came as a surprise because the neighborhood it's located in is very well maintained, then you go inside K-Mart lol

Damn I remember living in Brooklyn and the K-Mart replacing Ceasar's Bazaar. There was so much hype and anticipation and it really was an impressive department store at the time. Had a Little Ceasar's on the top floor and a small arcade room too. What a shame.

I miss K-Mart. There was one from my grandparents home a mile or two away in the local neighborhood. My gram would take me there for shopping and she'd get me popcorn at the food court inside.

It was the pre-walmart.

It was my childhood.

Kmart is where you go when you don't feel like dressing up for wal-mart.

That's how my local K-marts had been for years before they closed... one was pretty close to my apartment at the time so I was there semi-frequently until it closed years ago. Crappy, but it was nice to have a place totally empty to meander around in, and while some prices were terrible, you could get some good deals once in a while.

Then a couple years ago the one across town closed. Didn't go there as often as it was far less convenient but still kind of sad to see it go. :(

It's actually been ages since I've seen an open one, all the ones in surrounding cities and towns have closed up around here, and even farther away ones I used to see on specific trips to visit family or vacation on a regular basis are all closed up.
