I was a huge TMNT dick rider as a kid. The first movie in the 90s was entertaining for what it was but it just wasn't very good and the sequels got worse and worse. Of course, the Michael Bay produced films are just objectively bad.

the original one is still amazing to this day. captured the humor and relationship of the turtles perfectly. Shredder was a badass. Casey Jones was a badass. April was serviceable. I'll take costumes and animatronics over modern day CGI garbage any day of the week.

I didn't like that one, myself. It took itself too seriously. It had aspects of it that I liked though.
That scene where Raph is fighting that creature and Black Betty is playing in the background was cool.

Original was legit good, the other two were pretty bad though. Turtles Forever was fantastic. Cgi 2007 TMNT movies was GOAT tier. The first live action from 2015 was dumb fun and the sequel was fucking great.

Michael Bay didn't direct either of the new ones, he was just one of the producers for both. I feel like most people are under the impression he directed for some reason, hence all the whining about them.

Fantastic movie. Only negative is Don and Leo not getting as much screentime/focus as Mikey and Raph

1990 was a legit movie tbh.

2 was my favorite as a kid but on a fairly recent rewatch it's more good not great.

3 was p bad, but I did like the part when Casey tries to teach the Samurai to play hockey by watching it on TV and they just start fighting, lol.

2007 was also a legit movie.

Turtles Forever was good not great.

I had better sense that to see the Mikey Bay ones.

I always thought the TMNT trilogy was like the Back to the Future trilogy. 1st one was good and mostly serious with some bits of comedy, 2nd was mostly comical and wacky but still good, and the 3rd is where they go WAY back in time and it totally sucks.

I think the first one is legit good.

2nd one and 3rd one are way too cringey now as an adult.

It's funny. As a kid, I thought nothing of it. The cartoon show is on. The movie captures the likeness and backstories of the characters -- even if the foot soldiers are human for some reason and Splinter was born a rat. (What are comics?)

As an adult, I realize just how fortunate I was to have had a movie that was so faithful to what I watched on a weekly basis. So many people working on these kinds of films treat the fans for idiots and think that their every unnecessary amendment to the story is some grand improvement.

"I'm M. Night Shaymalan. I created the most famous movie twist of the 2000s. Don't tell me how to write a movie based off of some cartoon show on MTV."
"Nickelodeon."
"Whatever."

Nah, the animated 3-D TMNT (not the Bay inspired crap) movie was legit. The plot was nothing special, but the animation and fight scenes were top notch.

I can't speak for any of the live action stuff but 2007 and Forever were pretty good. That rainy rooftop scene was fantastic.
