It is a valid point. We tell little kids to hug this person, get a kiss from this person, whether the child wants to or not. It's about respecting personal space. I doubt many adults would be okay with another adult telling them to hug a stranger. Don't see why it shouldn't apply to kids as well. If they want to hug, they will. If they don't, leave them be. It's this sort of conditiong that makes girls in particular not want to upset the status quo when a man wants to touch them, for any reason at all, even if they don't want to be touched in any way.

I hate people trying to give me hugs or touch me. Especially older ladies that always touch your arm when they they're talking to you. I literally tell them to stop it because it pisses me off.

Forcing your kid to show physical affection to someone when they don't want to sends a terrible message. Sorry if that hurts your feelings Uncle Somebody-My-Son-Doesn't-Know-That-Well, but I respect my kid enough not to push those types of boundaries. If he wants to hug you he will.

"Bad touch" has been a thing since roughly forever. Possibly even when Cosby and Moore were doing it the first time.

This strategy of teaching children has been around for much longer than the Weinstein allegations. Girl Scouts are probably just issuing a reminder because it's the holidays. I can remember "Don't force your kid to hug someone" articles from several years ago.
