Get ready for a difficulty spike in the next area... and eventually, you'll have to deal with randomized elements which will screw you hard if you don't learn how to predict / time out the parts that actually have subtle patterns, and stick to safe routes/platforms even when other choices might look valid at first glance.

By the time you finish the game, I promise the frogs will seem easy.

Is that why I'm seeing articles from games journalists complaining about the difficulty and "skillgating" lately?

Seems like that should be an easy one for you, seeing as you're a clown as well

I've yet to find a consistent, discernible pattern to the moving platforms in a couple of stages. These are the stages where seemingly safe platforms can lead you into a dead end if you don't think ahead about the possible range of attacks which might come out next and pin you.

Also, Cala Maria's petrification/electric eel combo is damn near impossible to predict with 100% accuracy. The petrification attack has a certain timing/spacing to it that you can learn but it's virtually impossible to manipulate the eels in a perfectly repeatable way, as far as I'm aware.

You're talking about how the eels are still out and attacking you when you get frozen? Easy. As soon as the eels come out you need to take out as many of them as you can. I usually have 1 or 2 left when I get petrified. It's not a pattern that let's you dodge, it's a timing issue. The eels are out a specific amount of time before she petrifies you. The "repeatable" thing is go right back to shooting the eels when you become unfrozen. Idk if that makes sense to you.

As far as the platforming... I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Hmm... I can never seem to kill all of the eels before she launches the petrification attack, plus that doesn't leave any time to hit her face. Admittedly though, I don't know exactly what the time limit is for a passing grade (on time), so maybe I just need to do more experimenting. Or does hitting the eels reduce her overall health pool? That would be a game-changing revelation to me if that's the case.

The platforms on the Bee and Dragon stages appear to be randomly generated, as far as I can tell. I would argue that they're fair because every time I've gotten myself killed by cornering myself on the wrong platform, it was my own fault for not thinking ahead and choosing a safer path that was available to me. Still, the lack of a repeating pattern makes them one of the trickier obstacles to navigate.

I believe it does but im not 100 percent sure.

as for the platforms on those levels... things got really easy for me when I got used to going down as well as jumping up. what parts are you having trouble with on those fights?

Yeah, the platforms and some stuff are random.

I'm on Isle 2 myself. I can get the clown and the dragon to the last form. Somehow I always do something stupid to die.

What made the game easier? The shot that is the red bullets and is real close range.

the game seriously needs health bars of some sort

I firmly believe there is manipulation of boss health being done behind the scenes (to line up phase transitions with attacks better) and not actually knowing the truth or being able to see anything about what I'm actually doing is extremely frustrating

When the eels first come out with Cala Maria, I just go to the top right of the screen. There's a little space to avoid her petrified stare. Switch weapon to drop bombs on the eels (2 bombs per eel) to take out a few of them. Then shoot her in the face until they regenerate. Still, stay near the top right and you can avoid getting frozen.
