http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-05-street-fighter-5-will-finally-get-an-arcade-mode-in-2018-big-amazon-leak-reveals

I was ok with companies just updating games, but to lie (Developers said there would be no an arcade edition for SF5) and release one anyway....

What annoys me is the fact that people keep buying these half-ass fighting games and this practice is just going to keep happening. It's as if the original release is some glorified beta test

fucking the whole industry looks like they're getting into the business of releasing half finished games only to make you pay for more bs later on

yeah i'm looking at you andromeda, thank god we aint have to pay anything for this DLC that fixed the animations but my goodness did EA royally fuck that up

Absolutely awful practice

^ I don't think you quite understand, it would be "what they do" if they had released vanilla SF5 with all the core features then all subsequent expansions like they've always done.

How can you possibly have a street fighter game (fuck me any fighting game) without an arcade mode in the first place though? Then have to make gamers pay for it as DLC?

It's not what they do, it's just flagrant money grabbing. Removing a core feature of the game to make you pay for it later.

It's like when EA/Maxis whatever removed toddlers from Sims 4 for "technical reasons". All of a sudden, oh hello here's this new pack you have to pay for to get toddlers. Garbage

in this post: companies can't do something slightly different than what they usually do

you also don't have to pay for it, which you'd know if you read the article.

All the new gameplay-related content will be available as part of a free in-game update for current players, Capcom said. Current players will still have to buy DLC characters.

it helps if your argument is actually well thought out instead of a knee jerk reaction that's easily destroyed by even basic reading skills

I've noticed a trend in yearly games (especially EA) where they reboot a franchise by taking out all the cool features and then reintroduce them slowly each year, and people go, "Oh cool they're bring that mode back!" And get hyped about it.

I think sometimes these companies don't know how to innovate a franchise anymore so they just strip the games down to build the hype back up.

The gaming industry today kinda sucks : /
I wish more companies could be more like Nintendo and thoroughly test their games and don't remove shit from the game before release just to squeeze even more money from the people.

odd i wonder why they claim street fighter is only 4 battles. There were more than 4 fights. Also street fighter 2 was 11 or 12 battles.

I already own Street Fighter 5 so this update is literally just a free upgrade.

All while they are currently making at least 5 more Street Fighter 2 games. And then 10 more after that.

The funny thing about it calling it "Arcade Edition" is originally they called Street Fighter 4's "Arcade Edition" "Arcade Edition" because it was with the updates in the arcade version of the game, but SFV has no arcade version, they are just calling it that because it's recognizable, and if you really wanted to stretch it, because they're finally adding an Arcade Mode into game, something that should have been there from the very beginning.
