Yeah they changed some things, but it honestly captured the feel of Stephen King, and this was pure psychological horror, it was terrifying.

And the weird twist in the books I hated, but it was done much better in the movie.

I loved the movie.

Best parts:

When voice Gerald is describing to Jessie how they'll find their dead bodies and stuff was just so terrifying scene.

The hand...oh man...if you thought 127 hours hand scene was gruesome...this was just so gruesome...well done

Also I loved all the Stephen King references

Cujo, Dolores Claiborne, Dark Tower, Bag of Bones is what I caught

Me neither, but I think also the fact that there was almost none of it before so I wasn't that ready for it, I honestly did not expect them to do that scene as they did in the book

I mean, I liked it, and I understand why Jessie had to confront the messed up dude at the end, but it still felt like his inclusion into the story was kinda forced, IMO

I remember when I saw 127 Hours I hoped they would make Gerald's Game since there are similarities. And I'm so happy we got this, it's so fucking good.

Why did they make Gerald a super-fit dude? Like he has abs and everything.

Makes little sense that he has a heart attack <_<

No.

You couldn't really have the main character just in panties though tbf.

They kept the Dolores Claiborne connection?

What a weird thing to keep.

He was old, and you can still get heart attack if you gotten fit.

It's not like you need to know about it, it was just a fun reference.

I loved the book until the ending. I felt it undermined the whole thing.

They keep that part if it's what I think you mean, but I felt they did it better in the movie. I also loved the book and felt the ending to be like you said.

I just thought that the isolation of the setting, the mundane nature of the threat, combined with having to face her inner demons was ruined by having an actual boogeyman.

Yeah I know. But as I said, the movie handles it better, especially the whole final scene in the movie. But I agree, that part in the book just felt like it didn't honestly belong there, and it kinda still feels like that in the movie as well, but it's better handled to blend it with the rest of the story.

Having now watched the movie, I've no idea what makes you feel that way. It wasn't handled any better so far as I could tell. What makes you think it was better?

It could be that my memory is a bit hazy but I felt in the movie there was closure with the Moonlight Man that was shown more clearly, and the symbolism with him as well was done better. But it could also be that I knew all about him when I watched the movie so I knew the part was there so it didn't feel so disjointed, I remember in the book I felt the man being totally unnecessary especially when he was real.

But yeah could be that my memory is a bit hazy.

I figured it was the Viagra combined with having a stressful argument lol.

That ending was weird but I didn't mind how different it was. I'm so used to movies like this being vague about stuff like this so it did feel jarring for a movie to outright spend the last 5-10 minutes explaining his backstory.
