My idea: The wife keeps her last name. Any boys get the father's last name and any girls get the mother's last name.

No. I think that the wife should be free to choose what name she wants. Keep the maiden name, take the husband's name, hyphenate, or combine.

since we don't plan on having children, don't really have a response to the family tree side of things can't stand hyphenated names though. i'm all for each couple decided for themselves, but I really would prefer literally any other choice to a hyphenated name --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
