Maybe its just cause I don't pay much attention to stuff but it seems like it came out of nowhere.

Why is it such a big deal?

BAsically you (or team members) are on an island filled with empty houses and loot. You survive to be the last one alive.

It's just really funny in the way how people taunt others through the mic and good replayability

It's a typical battle royale style game. You take 100 players, drop them in a randomized arena, and they have to scavenge guns and ammo. The playing area shrinks throughout the game to discourage camping in the far corners of the map

It's basically H1Z1's King of the Hill mode but improves everywhere where H1Z1 took horrendously long to improve in their own game. And it's blown the fuck up in popularity. When I first learned of it watching JaboodyDubs on Twitch some months ago, it seemed like it wasn't as so huge as it is now.

I personally don't give very much of a crap about it, but it seems like H1Z1 just so happened to get around to doing what Battlegrounds already did/does infinitely better at the simultaneously same exact and worst possible time.

exactly, just a rip off of arma 3 mods and assets like day z standalone was a rip off of arma 2 mods and assets....early access garbage that will stay in "development" for 3 plus years at full AAA price where you aren't aloud to complain about ANYTHING where it will eventually be dropped to move onto the next scam perpetrated by wannabe pewtypies that make a grand total 4 dollars a month off their google adsense editing fake clips where they pay 30 dollars a month to host servers to their "friends"

It's simply a good Battle Royale game. That's it. Plus it was made by one of the more favorable modders of the Arma community, which also helps
