Board 8 > very sad what happened in charlottesville the other day

as someone who has lived here for most of his adult life i can say that this town has become a total disaster. 95% of the town consists of people who are normal and dont ruin it for everyone. these people are white, black, asian, religious, male, female, liberal, conservative. 5% of the town has been infected with a stupid political extremism that screws the whole deal up for everyone. this is found on the far left and the far right. this has been boiling for years and there stupid little battle has now cost human lives. and i dont see what either side had to gain to begin with. if one side wins, we dont have a dumb rock carved to look like a human in a random park in town. if the other wins, we still have the dumb rock. nothing changes in life either way. while i consider myself to be conservative, my life has not been altered one bit now that the statues are covered. just like how nothing changed when they were visible. i wish the 5% here realized how petty the fights they have are

I haven't been back in like 5 years but is there actually conflict in the city or is it just a stage that out of towners come to for their conflicts? It seems like the latter

there is a very large contigent on the left spectrum that has been fairly unopposed until the election. they started overstepping their bounds a bit right at the same time that trump was exciting the right which made conflict quick and passionate. its forced us normies to pick sides (spoiler alert, we all hate the kkk and nazis) even though we typically dont care. a lot has changed. the political and racial events here have been the topic of convo for all of us long before unite the right

but yes many out of towners have put gas on the fire. the event has been toxic to their cause and the local alt right leader is in hiding and has become anathema to them so i doubt anything ever happens here again. bad for their brand

as an aside, i do not wish for for the statues to be removed. i could care less about robert e lee or the south, its just going to cost us hundreds of thousands to do it apparently. if the antistatue people want to get a bunch of shovels and dig it up themselves, by all means. that money could go to a well deserved raise for yours truly

Well yes it's a convenient example of that, but it was explicitly conceived by The Daily Stormer to unite various white supremacist groups together. It was never intended for your average conservatives.
