https://www.yahoo.com/news/plane-returns-seattle-assault-flight-attendant-045616606.html

Did any on you read this story? A flight from seattle to china had to go back to seattle after a man started assaulting people on the flight. From reading the story it seems like he was the one who was assaulted. He lunged for the exit door and tried to open it mid flight, but i don't think that you can even do that. One of the flight attendants smashed a win bottle over his head like you see in the movies sometimes

the hatches actually open inward

Ahh, for some reason I thought they opened outward. In that case, yeah air pressure would make them harder to open.

Wait haven't you ever boarded a plane?

Air pressure would actually make it easier to open... Lower air pressure outside the cabin means that the higher pressure inside would push the door open once unlatched.

But yes, the emergency hatches CAN be opened mid-flight. That is sort of the point of them... <_<

Thanks.
Always amusing when someone is both smug and wrong.

That's why that row near the emergency door has a seat missing since the door has to come inside the plane.

I dunno, never really thought about it. I assumed they would open to allow parachuting. Not sure why.

Well the emergency exit doors on a plane don't. So good luck.
