Known this guy since highschool, used to be best friends, although I will admit we did not speak often after he moved out of state. He did stay in touch with other friends though, and it is becoming apparent that he is a danger to himself and others.

His dad was always widly bipolar, and had some serious rage addiction issues and early on i saw the warning signs in him, encouraged him to get help, and of course he did not listen. Clearly now, shit has gotten far worse.

He shoved his girlfriend, she hit a book case and got a black eye. Keep in mind this is the ONLY case of domestic abuse that I am aware of, and I do not intend to get too far involved in that aspect until/unless i hear of it happening again or if she asks me to.

What i do intend to get involved in is the fact that he is starting to make death threats to people who used to be his best friends. Dude is getting out of control, and something needs to be done before he gets his ass killed or arrested.

Since everyone knows me as the most level headed of his friends, they are leaving it to me to deal with it before they just call the cops. I've told his girlfriend not to go home tonight, as i intend to have a very unpleasant conversation with him, and do not want him taking it out on her.

Im laying it down tonight. Either he convinces me he is going to go to therapy and get his ass on some meds and get the help he needs, or im calling the cops. If i check in with his parents and find out he isnt going, im calling the cops. If he starts screaming at me and making threats, I am calling the cops. We have strings of text messages and online chat records that would surely be suitable to get him put away.

Nobody is currently intending to press charges, and my hope is that it stays that way. Nobody wants the dude in prison. we all recognize that he needs help, and everyone is just sort of scrambling trying to figure out what to do. He wont even speak to his parents, and when he does talk to his other friends it is usually just enraged screaming followed by death threats.

I had a friend that was on the other end of the spectrum. Super depressed. Would get so high and drunk that he couldn't walk. Then he started sending texts about suicide. After we sent the cops to him a couple of times, he finally wised up and got himself to where he could function as a human being again.

Yeah, one way or another the cops will end up involved probably, my goal is to be sure he doesn't end up in prison. He needs mental help, and prison isn't gonna provide it

I seriously doubt this will get anywhere near as wild and outlandish as that fabrication, mainly because it's true.

But hey, I knew what I was getting myself into with that story. I would not blame anyone for not believing me. It's only fair.
