Let's take a look at the roster:

Switch: STILL riding on the Zelda popularity, 6 months later. Has no other games worth mentioning.

Wii U: A failure. Switch looks like it's heading down the same path

3DS: Was good has had barely any releases for a good time now and the upcoming release list is a barren wasteland

How can these guys get their shit together and make themselves relevant again?

The Switch is kicking ass, and it's going to stay that way. ARMS is just around the corner and it's gonna be no less of a hit than Splatoon was, hell it'll probably be an even bigger one because it's not on the Wii U. It's got several major hits scheduled for the very near future, such as Splatoon 2, Kirby, and Super Mario Odyssey, the latter of which will have the same effect as Zelda if not greater.

Also, the Switch has been out for four months, not six. Despite that, it's still flying off the shelves to the point where I've never seen one in person.

Arms does look good and Mario odyssey looks promising coming from someone who dislikes open world.

Switch should(opinion) be in the process of getting an abundance of VC titles ranging from any console Nin has. Albeit if the paperwork in place to make this happen, you know, rights and stuff.

Ditto for 3ds.

Then they could make a smartphone too. They already make some of the best games. I mean phones are all the rave today and putting physical buttons on it would make it catch some eyes.

That's crazy talk. Nintendo will drip feed us VC releases at a speed of 1 or 2 games every other month, most being games nobody wanted. And they will expect us to be grateful.

It's actually more like $500 after you factor in Zelda, since that's what 99%+ of the people bought it for. And that's assuming you were able to get it from a retailer (i.e. you're unemployed and could sit at home and refresh the browser before it sold out in 2.5 minutes). If you got it from a scalper this combo could easily be 6 or 7 hundred.

I average 45-50 hours/week at work. What are you going on about?

What can they change?

Customer Service.

Treat customers with respect and show them you appreciate their business. Years ago they had this and they got arrogant; now it's biting them in the ass. Things like:
A loyalty program people that doesn't make you wish for the previous program
Multi-device usage for digital content.
A social networking site that isn't draconian and arbitrary in its censorship
Dropping the "it's our way or nothing" attitude. (Take from that what you will)

...and on and on. Yes, all of these have been mentioned before, but the fact is that they still haven't addressed them while the competition has.
