I thought they were great. They were some of my favorite part of the game and I really enjoyed the bit of story around them that gets alluded to here and there..

Right!? I really liked that angle story-wise. I felt that Jason and friends were strong protagonists in contrast to Vaas who was a great antagonist. Fuck Hoyt though.

It's hard for turbovirgin video game nerds to relate to a guy that not only gets outside and does stuff, but has friends, a girlfriend and is also able to talk to strangers without having a nervous meltdown.

Because they were actually doing things. You can really feel that they cared for each other. And they clearly weren't written where we were suppose to root for them to die like in the average horror movie.

When they weren't assisting Jason somehow or giving advice about the island they were back at the cave trying to build a boat to escape with.

The only one who was really useless was Keith and there's a fair reason behind that.

Because lord knows we've played the generic 'hardened badass' hundreds of times in shooters. The 'whiny bitch' was a breath of fresh air.

It was cool to play as a regular dude who wasn't used to combat situations for once. They could have just as easily let us play as his ex military brother, but being a novice added an interesting dynamic

Too bad for them. I don't relate to the characters in any of those listed aspects and I still ended up liking them. Some can be said for many other characters that people enjoy.

Besides, the whole point of the story was taking these people like this and throwing them into this shitty situation.

but in the end it didn't even matter since the combat was still the same from the get go

but in the end it didn't even matter since the combat was still the same from the get go

At least they try to justify it. Jason was taught by his ex-military older brother how to use weapons and made frequent visits to shooting ranges. Plus, he was into extreme sports, hence why he's in such great physical condition.

Same here. And again, Jason have some talents in terms of his physical condition and experience with guns. So that would explain how he was able to adapt quickly.

Yeah, that was pretty lame. The good ending is definitely the best one. The other one was just stupid.

It's a weird game. It was a little boring, and yet for some reason I pretty much 100% it. I think the atmosphere was nice to be in, maybe that was it.
