iirc it's meant to improve on the very tedious sounding Portable Ops, at least. I will probably give it a quick shot but I foresee it looking a lot worse as a console game than a portable one.

If it's not your first playthrough, do whatever.

If it is, you really should probably stick to release orsdr after 3. Playing 3 first is not ideal but it's not like you're playing Peace Walker before 4 or anything.

Yeah you should have gone MGS2 then MGS3, but I guess overall it doesn't really matter between 2 and 3.

At least you didn't say you were doing Peace Walker first or something. lol

Peace Walker is a fun game, it's just got a LOT of stuff in it so getting to the ending might take you a lot of time.

I actually have played 1, TTS and a good portion of 2 previously (I played through a lot of it at a friends house before and kinda know the gist of the story anyway but still) so I guess I wanted to go for something totally new.

but yeah, share any tips if you have them. I just find myself either being way too cautious given the wide open nature of a lot of the areas or being the complete opposite and getting punished as a result. like twice I've been seen because some dude saw me in a crack of the wall or something lol.

also i was trying to be as non lethal as possible but the pain annoyed me into shotgunning him :(

eh I still would have played in release order because it doesn't sound like you know the games all that well ("I played through a lot of 2 at a friend's house") so a ton of the nuance will be lost on you, and that's kind of the whole point of the series.

gameplay wise MGS3 is pretty easy, just do whatever. honestly I'd play it lethally if it's your first playthrough because it will be easier and you get to use more guns than just the tranq ones. on a nonlethal playthrough you dont get to use the shotguns, and they are really fun in MGS3. plus killing people makes (small spoilers) the fight against the sorrow more interesting

MGS3 is the first time I used a grenade in a Metal Gear game successfully. A group of 4 guys were stalking around looking for me, I dinked one in the middle of them all. It blew up, my caution was gone.

It felt really empowering to not just have a massive shit-ton of people converge on me when I use a grenade. lol
