Because this Jeff Sessions quote seems to suggest that

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/20/politics/kfile-sessions-psychoanalyze/index.html

"We've got cases moving in the very, very liberal Ninth Circuit, who, they've been hostile to the order," Sessions said. "We won a case in Virginia recently that was a nicely-written order that just demolished, I thought, all the arguments that some of the other people have been making. We are confident that the President will prevail on appeal and particularly in the Supreme Court, if not the Ninth Circuit. So this is a huge matter. I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the President of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and Constitutional power."

This the only people that say that are dumb locals that don't understand the repercussions it would have. The majority of people there are perfectly happy being a state.

Also tc hawaii is the greatest state there is.

Using the power of context and reading comprehension, he's obviously referring to the fact that someone in Hawaii of all states is able to issue a judgment preventing increased border security for the 99% of the country that isn't isolated by thousands of miles of ocean.

It's actually mind-boggling.

I have no idea, but unless more women get into politics and get elected, then men will be the ones legislating women's health policies.

And I'm not saying they do a good job at it. Just like how politicians all grew up pre-Internet, none of them have any real standing legislating modern technology either.

Well America decided to overthrow the Hawaiian monarchy and absorb the islands into the nation and eventually granted them statehood. So unless he has a time machine and make sure that never happens they have the same rights as every other state.

Where do you draw the line?

Let's drop puerto rico too (not a state, I know) because they're brown, D.C., California and NY because they vote democrat and New Mexico because it's poor. Now we got 45 states.

That he's amazed by it? Maybe the situation put things into perspective. I don't see why you'd assume he's saying another state like say Idaho should have the power to do this, but no Hawaii. Maybe he is, but I don't see it that way.

Amazed by what, that he's a Hawaiian judge? The "island in the Pacific" qualifier doesn't make sense unless viewed in the context of drawing attention to the locale.

The whole illegal 'domestic documents' used to make Hawaii into a state.

I mean you pretend a coup, put the queen under house arrest, prop yourself and a few other white men up in charge of governing Hawaii under a provisional government, and request that the US annex Hawaii.

Even President Cleveland found it to be illegal. They had to wait until McKinley took office for Hawaii to fall under US control.

Of course, it's impractical to give up Hawaii as a State now, so...

And Samoa is in a way worse position than Hawaii because of it. You know how many people from Samoa want to become citizens. Hell they waiver low scoring asvab scores there so that some of them can get into the military and become citizens

A matter of formality. Hawaii lost it's sovereignty when it was annexed under the US in 1898. From there it was only a matter of time before it officially became incorporated into the US as a state.
