Yes, but the fact that gay people (among other minorities, race and non-race) still literally have to worry about their lives when they go outside with their significant other or around a CLUB they frequent means there's still a loooong way to go

Yeah, absolutely. I think a part of that is a more tolerant generation is getting older and is starting to shut down the older, most close-minded and hateful generations. It will continue to get better because of this.

That's only the case if you don't live in a big city. It's not like stuff like that Miami massacre from last year happens often.

I think it mostly had to do with the large number of "normal people" coming out which shifted society's image of gays away from being flamboyant stereotypes.

Much of the prejudice was directed at outward appearances and perceived behaviors rather than caring about what someone does in the bedroom.

America still has a moderate population of conservatives, rednecks, and Bible thumpers that are against LGBT-related matters but for the most part the country has been steadily growing more tolerant since the Bush era ended.
