basically japan's take on the police procedural drama and the greatest manga I have ever read. main character is a detective who just doesn't give a **** and exists in a canon that has mostly realistic rules of reality but he pushes the upper boundaries of 'badass' normal quite often without being so ridiculous that his feats lose meaning or come off as unbelievable.

the series spans over the course of like 5 years of his career and has a running narrative despite being fairly episodic - each 'case' can be as short as 1 chapter or as long as 1 volume (4 chapters). the final case takes up the entire last 2 volumes.
