Depends where you're applying and for what field. I don't think there's a general answer for this.

Hmm, a bit of Googling does suggest that in general it is easier to get into Master's programs.

Just be aware that some schools don't even offer a Master's. You also typically receive less financial aid for a Master's.

Yes, but you don't get paid.

Also depending on the field, a masters may be more or less useless (physics, for example).
