Funny enough I just ordered a replica book just for decoration, but it got me to thinking how I would have handled the situation if I was in Light's Shoes. Unfortunately I realized I think the same thing would have happened to me.

I agree. It's just too much power. I could only hope there was really an L out there willing to put me down.
there's a couple problems with this, firstly being that most of us are older, I don't think anyone flies into a rage and takes the bait that started the whole thing. with that kind of power you don't need to confront authority head on, in fact that's really the only way to get caught. the second is that L himself is kind of a megalomaniac psychopath, though it's downplayed a lot because light has to be portrayed as the villain. there's no real justice regardless of who wins, it's just an ego battle
Yeah there is not way I would use that thing.
I have to wonder about this. a lot of people will say it because it's the PC thing to do, but it's simple to observe that ordinary people are quite willing to kill each other if so compelled and assuming the reward outweighs the risk(and here there is basically no risk). what makes me doubt that someone would use it is who would actually give it a chance? you find this thing and you probably laugh your ass off thinking you got pranked
I probably see myself using it. Although, I truly believe that Light's character was insane and took it to levels most people wouldn't have. So I think I would be able to keep myself under control.
It's easy to say that now. I won't truly know unless such a thing were to happen to me.
From: Liquid Wind | #005 light showed signs of being a total sociopath from the very beginning though
True, but would his life really have gone down a similar path without the power of the Death Note? Would he really have picked up a gun and started killing people? I doubt it.
