1 week, 2 weeks? This is just for a part time job at Gamestop. Pun told me he got hired the same day, but I am just curious to other peoples experiences with other jobs.

Here's what you do for lower level jobs like that. First off, you put in your application. Make sure you give it to the store manager when you turn it in and make sure you're friendly and act like you know your ****. Next off wait a few days. Call back and ask to talk to a manager. When you have him (or her, I suppose) on the line ask if you can set up a time for an interview. If you're even remotely competent you'll get a job after the interview.
At least, I've never not gotten a job after getting interviewed for one. </swag>

That's what I have figured, i have gotten every job I have ever been interviewed for. Just a lot more is on the line for this one so I guess I am more nervous

INCEPTlON posted... what's the longest you have had to wait to get a call lincoln? I'd say the longest has probably been a week. That said, there have also been times that I've never been called back. Something that sucks for those of us who are actually looking for a job is that a lot of people (the majority, I'd say) just put in their applications to keep their unemployment benefits, and as a result the managers assume that most of the applicants don't actually want a job. Make it clear that you're serious but don't come off as pushy, imo

Really that depends on the job and HR for them. If they didn't specify when they would be calling you i'd just wait a week, week and a half before calling them back about it. And when you call just ask for a manager, say you got interview on so and so day and havn't heard back from them about it yet. They SHOULD then tell you what is up and even if you didn't get the position calling still says you are interested in working there so they might think of you if the new hire doesn't work out or they need to hire another person.

even better than to call back would be to just show up again and ask in person. Not wanting to look desperate or seem pushy can be tough obstacles to overcome, but the more initiative you show, the more likely you are to get the job.

I'd call them and let ask them if you got the job and when you begin work. Only after a couple times that they are like, "we haven't decided" or w/e just say don't bother but thanks for the opportunity and to call you when they made their decision. Don't expect to get the job but it shows them that your time is valuable and you are willing to work and want results now (which is nice if they ACTUALLY are in the midsts of finding someone and are just slow in the hiring process). Perhaps down the road they will call you but spend your time finding another job as opposed to waiting for a week/month hoping for a call.
Besides, who would want to work for a company where management is indecisive?
Note: This usually works when you actually believe your time isn't worth wasting.

I'm pretty sure with Gamestop they make the decision on the spot and if it's "no" they tell you they will call you. At least that's the way they did it at my store when I worked there(don't ever work at gamestop).
Was yours a group interview?

My Japanese alter-ego. Hey all this is Bartz btw.
Another tip for interviews is to do anything you can to get the interviewer to commit to a deadline to call you. Then you can call them after that point and not sound like an over-persistent douche.

If you left a good impression and are going to get hired -> 0-3 days, longer if they are trying to accept as many applicants as they can before a certain date.
If you didn't leave the best impression, 0 - 365 days.
