It could be infected, or a tumor. One of my dogs had a benign tumor on his ear. We have it removed and he was fine.

Definitely take the dog to the vet.

That looks like a papilloma wart. Dogs get them when they are older. My dogs have them too. They are generally harmless although an infection could occur if it bothers the dog and the continually pick at it.

I work with dogs and I see them all the time.

I'd like to. I don't know how much it cost to take dogs to the vet.

The vet can remove them, just know they can grow back. It's a virus. I am getting the two on my dogs head removed because it is really bothering him.
