I think in the lore none of them are Sora and are their own person.

So, as someone who has played every KH game from the first on release, and onward..

I have a nearly perfect understanding of everything. If people are legit interested in a breakdown and explanation of everything, I am willing to provide it...albeit later when I am not at work.

isnt Ventus a unique person? Just with some weird link to Sora that isnt really explained? Or maybe they explained it and it was dumb so I ignored it

Xehanort just convinced/forced most of the Organization to become Nobodies again.

Roxas

Sora and Data Sora are obviously the original and a Data replica.

Roxas would be Soras Nobody so technically part Sora and Xion has her own connection to Sora.

Ventus and Vanitas are their own beings though with how connections work Vens looks managed to shape Roxas and vice versus Sora shapes Vanitus.

I seem to recall time travel being used to bring some of them into the future though. That and vessels to place their souls in?
Like, if it was so easy to re-nobody members who "died", couldn't he have just continued to do it over and over again? They made a big deal out of trying to recruit Riku, when he seemed to have the ability to bring back previous members.

No, there was time travel, but it wasn't for the original Organization members. He just used it to bring his past selves back.

My first post was poorly worded, but that does clear a few things up. The biggest point of confusion was how he went about getting them back in his ranks after they were beaten, and if it was so easy, why he felt the need to seek out Sora/Riku in Dream Drop Distance.

If that's the case, then there must've been a line in DDD that I misconstrued as meaning something else entirely. I just remember something near the end of the game that implied the members coming from an earlier timeline.

1. Master Xehanort himself came back as a result of Ansem and Xemnas being defeated in KH1 and KH2 respectively this would make Xehanort the first of the thirteen darknesses
2. Xigbar, Saix, Luxord, Marluxia, and Larxene are all in the present and were basically turned back Human then back into Nobodies so that makes the number go up to six darknesses.
3. The ones from the pasts points would have been Young Xehanort, Ansem, Xemnas, Riku Replica, and Vanitus, this rounds the number up eleven. Thus where 12 and 13 come into play.
4. We kinda can count both Vexen and Demyx into the count as contingency candidates.
5. This leads to the last which are Terra and Xion which would make the total up to thirteen. Terra was an obvious choice as his body was fully restored but Terras heart never returned to his body so it was an empty vessel and Xion is basically a replica body so they were able to piece here back.
6. It should be noted that there are also 20 Replicas that were made during the games events. 12 of them are boss fights in game prior to the final battle with Xehanort. Six were used for the time travelers and Xion. They gave 1 to help with Roxas coming back and there seems to be one missing from that count though I think it can be assumed that Xion technically has two bodies and the first was destroyed when she was defeated.

Is the Data Sora in 3's DLC the same Data Sora in Coded? I know he doesn't speak or anything, but we might have another Sora on our hands here.

Roxas is Soras Nobody. But at some point he developed his own heart and is now in a replica body. So technically hes his own person now. And same with Xion.

Ventus heart was fractured by Master Xehanort into Light and Dark(Vanitus). This broke Ventus and Sora as a newborn shared his heart with Ventus to keep him alive.

later when beaten at the end of BBS, Ventus retreated into Soras heart. But he was always his own person.

also since Ventus heart was inside Sora at the time of becoming a Nobody, Roxas is also part Ventus which is why he resembles him

Can anyone explain the grand plot of DDD to me? I dont fully understand what transpired behind the scenes.

and Namine? Closely connected to Sora in very profound ways but not technically a literal part of Sora.

I played KH1 and 2 in the 2000s. Then KH3 in 2019. And didn't understand ANYTHING.

If I remember correctly, it's because Young Xehanort was sort of anchoring all the other members to that space-time because he was the one who gathered them, but as he was existing as just a heart he could only stay in the present for a limited time before the paradox of multiple Xehanorts occupying the same space-time forbade them all from coexisting, and so when he was expelled back to his own time all the others were dragged away with him.

God, I forget just how incredibly stupid this series is.
