I'm convinced Mahjong isn't real and it is just an elaborate joke on us.

Once you learn the basics of Mahjong, it's actually pretty fun. You just need 4 melds (which is either 3 of a kind or 3 sequences like 1-2-3 or 5-6-7), and a pair. Dont steal (aka pon or chi) anything when the game asks you, and always Riichi by hitting Square when you are 1 tile away from victory. You should definitely steal (or Ron) when you're in Riichi mode tho. That's pretty much the basics

Nah, most games just require substories completion and that's it.

On average, how long is each game when doing all substories? I beat Kiwami 2 in 40 hours, which makes the entire series seem doable (Kiwami 1 was shorter but I already knew that going in).

Probably like 60 hours for each game if you're going for substory completion and 30 hours if you arent

Yakuza 5 is much longer tho....

Is that 893 game playable?

I usually hit about 60-80 hours per game with around 90% completion, although 8 felt super short

Haaa... well most of them are pulled straight from Yakuza 1, where they were not interesting at all.

There are about ten or so that are brand new, as I recall, and are up to similar standards as 0's.
