Sometime's I'll try to catch a specific gender of pokemon, ie a female Ralts (Gardevoir) or a male Machop (cause it seems right). And the obvious scenarios of pokemon for breeding.

Are you only catching one gender, period??

In older games, I was more inclined to capture female Pokemon due to breeding mechanics, but these days it doesn't matter since Egg Moves were made easier than ever to pass down.

when I first played through Sword, all the mons I caught for my party ended up being female. I didn't plan for it, and didn't even notice until well after I had beaten the game.
