One day an old woman in a bath robe walked in the front door and sat on the couch, saying something about the devil. We finally got her to leave and when we looked out front door she was nowhere. Mom also claims that when my brother and I would stay with our dad on the weekends our electronic toys would randomly come on. It got to the point where she'd stay with my aunt on weekends because she was afraid. My brother would also have conversations with someone in the top bunk when he was 3 or 4, like Q&A type stuff. I'd ask who he was talking to and he just ignored me and pretended to be asleep. We were watching some movie called "Bells" I think it was, about people being killed over the phone. Right as someone picked up the phone to be killed our telephone cord started swinging back and forth. My step father put his watch on the bathroom sink to take a shower one day. When he got out, the watch was taken apart. There's probably explanations for all that but it was still creepy. Mom thinks it had something to do with a painting of a man in a boat that was in the trailer when we moved in. I'm not a materialist so most "rational" explanations mean nothing to me anyway. Ghosts and the paranormal are likely related to electromagnetism, much like most things. We're pretty limited in our perception, so it may be actually impossible for us to ever measure things like "Ghosts" or "consciousness" even if measurement tools were available, it wouldn't matter if its beyond the limits of what our minds are able to perceive/conceptualize. it's like hearing. the upper limit for most people is 20khz, with the norm for adults being around 17-18khz. if most people were to hear something like a car engine, they'd perceive it as one sound, maybe a combination of 2-3 sounds, the overall chugging, the sputtering of the engine, the occasional squeak of the belt. now, if you take someone who is able to hear frequencies up to 25khz, their perception of the engine sound would be drastically different. they'd hear a combination of dozens of sounds that create the "engine song" like one of my friends has been tested and she can hear up to 26khz. we're both musicians, and if I press very slightly too hard on the guitar string, she can hear that 1) the overtone is sharp and 2) the resonant frequencies are out of tune. I'm able to keep up with her in most music applications (I have good relative pitch) but even tho we're both lifelong musicians, the way she describes her experience with music is in such a depth that its almost incomprehensible. like, the way she describes things to me and other musicians, is like if I were to go up to some random person and try to have a conversation about baroque music theory with them. basically, not even the same league (and fwiw, I'm tested at hearing 24khz, meaning her hearing range is not much more than mine but the difference is drastic) --- ? <cite>BucketCat posted [p:980053639] in Are you a ...
