Just wondering. I think transitioning into making and supporting user created Video Walkthroughs and just a larger social media presence in general would grow the site and keep it strong.

IGN for example has 18.1 million YouTube subscribers and GameStop has 5+ million

I know GameFaqs is not the same type of website but maybe diversification in some of these areas could drive more engagement and be users, more ad revenue etc.

So maybe this site doesn't have to constantly be sold from owner to owner to organizations that don't actually care about the actual well-being of the site

If GameFAQs had a YouTube channel, it would have a total of like 3 videos on it, the most recent of which was from 2015 or something.

Making gamefaqs into a hosting site for video walkthroughs is actually a good idea and something fandom could do to bring the site into this decade.

Yeah they tried this around 10 years ago where you could upload videos to GameFAQs directly. It didn't work because honestly, it was too late. Shortly afterwards they shutdown the feature and migrated to youtube.

We've also decided to part ways with GameFAQs Video as well. The program didn't gain the traction that it needed so we started going in a different direction in terms of video on GameFAQs. We're working on increasing the integration of YouTube links on GameFAQs rather than rebuilding the wheel. All current videos that we're hosting will still be hosted indefinitely, but we won't be supporting any new videos. Instead, you can simply create a YT account, upload your videos there, and then link to them on GameFAQs.

No I think if GameFaqs would have monetized faster we could have avoided getting stuck with fandoms sucky leadership

Not much point to doing it, given the time and resources that would have to be spent on getting the damned thing up and running. Everyone and their mother already puts out video walkthroughs of games on YouTube, so GameFAQs would have nothing to help them stand out from the crowd, apart from possibly the name.
