  • Player Core 2 will update 8 existing classes and 7-8 existing ancestries, including a huge overhaul to kobolds
  • Howl of the Wild adds 6 new ancestries
  • Tian Xia Character Guide adds 6 more ancestries
  • War of Immortals adds 2 new classes, the Animist and Exemplar
  • Two more classes going into playtest in a couple weeks, the Commander and Guardian
  • Unknown number of archetypes and versatile heritages being added
  • Starfinder 2e playtest book releasing this summer, which will be rules compatible with Pathfinder 2e, albeit not balanced around it because they still want Starfinder to be its own game
  • Huge lore shakeup involving a god in the core pantheon dying, for anybody who plays in the official canon setting

Meanwhile, Wizards is just releasing updated versions of the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide for 5e, along with one adventure book.

Why aren't more people playing Pathfinder at this point, it's obvious which company still has love and passion for their games

Yeah, I finally made the jump from 3.5 to Pathfinder 2e about a year and a half ago. I've found it to be quite enjoyable, though it can be a bit crunchy at times.

Personally I enjoy crunchy systems though, I'm a Shadowrun player/GM though so I kind of have to be.

I mainly love how open the character creation and advancement is compared to D&D. Leveling up in Pathfinder 2 feels less like a straight path where everybody gets the same thing. It's so much more open to customization and really making your character feel like your own.

I'm also of the opinion that playing a human character is far more appealing here than it ever was in D&D. D&D humans just feel boring and generic, but Pathfinder humans feel properly balanced with the other ancestries and are actually interesting.

Also multiclassing is way better and easier to work into a build.

PF2 multuclassing is how 4e multiclassing should have felt.

Also for anybody who wants to get into Pathfinder 2e but thinks it will be too expensive, good news

I would like to introduce you to "Archives of Nethys", a website that is officially endorsed AND supported by Paizo and presents every single rule, creature, item, spell, character option, etc. that has ever been introduced to the game.

For free. Because they want their game to be accessible even if people can't afford to buy the books.

https://2e.aonprd.com/?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

"But TMOG, I'm looking at the character creation rules, and it's so confusing! I don't know how to do it!"

Then I would also like to introduce you to Pathbuilder, another free* site that is endorsed and supported by Paizo, and makes character creation into a snap by walking you through your options step-by-step in a very easy to understand way.

https://pathbuilder2e.com/

*most features are free; some, such as animal companions and familiars, are only available on the paid version of the site/app

Everything about PF2 is how 4e should have felt. You can tell that they took a lot of inspiration from that edition and just made it work.
