Repeteadly the management of GameFAQs failed to get on with the times, it could have been a gaming version of RottenTomatoes, could have pivoted towards Video FAQs hard, or done any number of things. Now there's like a small fraction of active users and the servers are probably way too expensive. We are living in the last days/weeks/months of GameFAQs as a whole.

The servers probably cost next to nothing, unless they've fucked up big time. It's mostly text. The guides and stuff will remain, but the boards are absolutely going to be shut down at some point.

I just don't really get the logic. When LUE and Politics closed people just migrated to CE. Now that CE's closed they'll probably go elsewhere. The problem isn't the board names or anything.

Part of the difference is the sitewide banishment of "political" topics though.

Ive said that unironically for the last 6 months. The boards as a whole will go away. Itll just be an archive site for guides/walkthroughs.

Honestly Im surprised they lasted as long as they have. Any other site I used that had a message board like on IMDb went away years ago.

Past situations weren't anywhere near the same. This site isn't even useful for game guides anymore, just retro gaming.
